CHRIS SHIMOJIMA A background in classical piano taught NYC-based Chris how to listen to the things around him and interpret the themes. He’s at his best as a director when he can shape real life into something more rhythmic, bold, and playful. This means he often works with non-actors in both docustyle projects and fiction films… but he’s a fan of seasoned performers too!
He honed his writing chops at NYU Tisch School’s Dramatic Writing program, his editing chops at high-profile digital agency R/GA, and his hard-working chops on the swim team.
He has 4 x Vimeo Staff Picks, an AICP nomination, and a YouTube “top 10 Made-for-the Web shows” credit. His clients have included Arena Water Instinct, Tyson, Audio-Technica, ADT, US Lacrosse, Nike, JACK Casino, Northwestern Mutual, and Zurich Insurance. His debut feature film, “Alberto and the Concrete Jungle,” was produced ridiculously D-I-Y, yet ambitiously, with over 50 cast members, across NYC’s 5 boroughs. It has screened at Cinequest Film Festival, among others, and taken home a few awards. His projects have appeared in Nowness, Directors Notes, and various press outlets.
