Nikolai Meierjohann is a director and media artist from Cologne.
Humor, collage-like work, and an unusual composition style characterize many of his projects. He uses the Internet and social media in many of his short formats. In his films, he combines and works with mixed media elements and thus brings together different styles.
Since 2022 he has been working increasingly with the creative collective WATP (we aim to please -Nirén Mahajan) from Cologne, with whom he shot the music video “Kein Happy End” for the artists Paula Hartmann and Casper and in collaboration with wtf GmbH in spring 2023 two commercials (“Birkenstock – Anniversary of the icons” & “Ben – T-Systems/ Telekom”).
Through the long work with and for the US American surveillance artist Julia Scher, it happens that older video formats play a role in his projects mixed with new media of our time.
